i was supposed to do a post on my favorite looks from the met ball. but that got postponed (in my mind). and then i was supposed to do my favorite looks from the white house correspondence dinner. but that got postponed. but i just can't can't can't NOT post all this amazing stuff from rosemount australian fashion week. their spring/summer collections couldn't have better timing considering that summer officially starts for me this week so aloha, australia! we welcome your juicy creativity.

all i want is a white lace dress for summer. the aussie brand Lover must be a dream invader or something because they whipped up the most divinely intricate pieces for their "white serpent" collection. the images hovering over their show were like scenes straight out of The Craft. cue the chanting, "light as a feather, stiff a board, light as a feather, stiff as a board..."

i hope everyone is having a wonderful mother's day! today was all work and no play but i did get to take a moment and surprise my momma with a lovely outfit (which she didn't want to make an appearance in because it was "too pretty for the weather") as well as take all the wonderful women of my life out for dim sum. i love my popos (grandma in cantonese) to pieces. i take so much pride in the women of my life. just to reveal how cool my mom is, she did me the favor of snapping some photos before i dashed out the door again for an all-day business meeting. so thank you mom, you are the best! i think my style sense comes from my mom because she has some of the best clothing from back in the day. one of her best gifts to me were these clubmaster ray-bans which i've been wanting forever! screw the new, vintage ones are better!

note: i must teach my parents how to use my camera.

further note: i must teach MYSELF. haaaa.

further further note: i don't know what's up with with my gangster one-pant-leg-rolled-up-higher-than-the-other but i KNOW i rolled them up equally. it has to do with my hyper-extended legs which means i have velociraptor legs. if you still don't understand, watch jurassic park. although rather than providing speed, they're prone to klutziness, hence awkward falling scenes.

how ridiculous is that laser show under my eye? it's just as ridiculous as the emo pose on the sofa at karaoke hut. but it's only almost as ridiculous as this ombre on ombre trend i decided to sport for this raucous glee-like occasion. it's like the denim on denim trend except one of the "ombres" is a little more permanent. pretty perfect for prancing around on sofas singing to phantom-of-the-opera songs and "my humps." anyway, happy belated cinco de mayo. time to go and find some tea to soothe my loss of voice from too much singing (more like yelling).

this past sunday was university of hawaii's annual fashion show and i was asked by misha, one of the designers, to model for her segment! it was such a blast watching everyone chaotically assemble everything into an epic showcasing of student work. misha's "alpine high tea" collection was so beautiful. her hard work and effort over the months paid off as everyone admired the intricate and well-executed looks coming down the runway. my outfit was part of the denim category which was required by each of the senior designers. the jacket i wore was made of bleached, SHREDDED denim. emphasis on the shredding because misha devoted hours to that beauty. did i mention that she spent a few hours every night weaving the friendship bracelets and necklaces for each of the looks? talk about dedication. my lipstick-gone-mad look is supposed to suggest that i "ran off into the woods and ate a whole bunch of berries" according to my attending make-up artist deena (just in case you thought otherwise). i'm a little biased....but misha's collection was BY FAR my favorite. so thank you misha for asking me to be a part of this.

so i've been meaning to post this for some time. jordan and i finally got to do ANOTHER amazing shoot early january. it's been reposted over and over again but hasn't been posted on my blog, so if anything it's mainly serving purpose for my own memory. this time we got to shoot with the lovely malia from niche modeling agency. She is also a rising star for the local whilemina agency as well! toni farley did her makeup and hair and jordan of shirakiphoto was the creative genius behind all the photography with andrew tran assisting. it was so fun styling this shoot because i got to use all my own clothes! shop from your closet. seriously...you'll always find treasures.

it's been a routine for three and a half years now. i wake up in the morning, grab my daily smoothie and start sipping away while i delightfully scroll through the numerous new posts on my reader. it's like christmas every morning as i get to watch how people all around the world have styled themselves for the day. and i mean that in the most non-creepy way as possible. here are the blogs i stalk the most. as you will see, i love all types of styles--probably because i can't figure out my own.

tommy ton of jak&jil blog always captures both the most covetable pieces and moments of each season.

he is my FAVE!

luxirare comes in as a close second. but it's difficult to compare considering that her penchant for design in both the fashion and gastronomic world is unrivaled! i am floored by every single one of her posts.

i love fashiontoast but who doesn't? that's why instead, i'm posting aimee from Song of Style because i can relate to her better. besides the fact that she's a fellow asian, she's an architecture intern with a passion for fashion (pardon the cliche) just like me!

another personal style blogger i love: the glamourai. she is so good at mixing prints and her style is definitely true to her blog name. notice i'm picking all the bloggers with photographer boyfriends....hint hint.

in terms of minimally chic, i love vanillascented (pictured above) and dead fleurette. the latter follows a stricter nature of minimalism while vanillascented takes a looser approach. but i appreciate both :)

finally, but definitely not last (the list still continues to grow as we speak), i present to you one of my newest additions: the coveteur. freshly squeezed interiors and jealousy-ensuing closets of the fashion elite.

back to outfit posting! it's been disturbingly long but life's events get in the way and you know how the story goes. here are some pics (yes, that's my boy) from the uh student design event which was a preview of a bigger show to come. super excited to participate. things that have occurred since the last outfit post: 1) i'm now half a blonde. asian blonde to be specific. 2) i'm now part of the ~~cool~~ dslr ~~hipster~~ club now. 2.5) i have a full-zip wallet now (you have no idea how big of a deal that is to me). 3) i've added probably fifty something new blogs to my blogroll 4) i've wasted HOURS on the new additions to my blogroll. lesson of the day: don't activate your google reader if you would like to be productive. until next time!

These are some of my favorites from the 2011 Resort Collections. There were so many brogues and oxfords (please be mine!) throughout all the collections and I'm loving all the sheer! Picture number 2 (A.Wang) brings me back to my childhood when my grandma used to sew play clothes for me with matching tops and bottoms very similar to this look. I knew Popo was always ahead of the times. As for the designers that really killed it this season for me was by far Erin Fetherston and Rag & Bone. I wanted every single piece from their collections. Can't wait for September when I get completely distracted from work to view all of next seasons collections!

Just did some major shopping for the past two weekends, but you know what's funny? Even with a whole bunch of new clothes, when it comes down to the what-do-I-wear-frenzy, I end up going back to things I love most such as this skirt, the belt-that-wear-with-everything, and this cuff. My clutch is actually a vintage cross-body bag that happens to be my most favorite purse in the whole wide world but the strap broke after all the torture I put it through! I'm so sad. Hopefully I can get it fixed, but in the meantime, it will remain my most favorite clutch in the whole wide world.

The only new thing I'm wearing is the one shouldered blouse. I love to paint and I fell in love with the colors. It looks like a watercolor painting on sheer material! Unfortunately I hate working with watercolor because I have no control over which way the color runs...but I think that's the whole point and the whole beauty of it right? Time to let go and run with the colors... wherever they may go.

Just bought Rumi's newly released RVCA "Machinery" dress in both black and white (I seriously could NOT decide, so give me a break). The inspiration behind her design is Milla Jovovich's character Leeloo in The Fifth Element (note the white bandaging). That pretty much secured my purchase considering the fact I LOVE Milla. I mean, who doesn't love a model/badass-chick-playing-actress/fashion designer for Jovovich-Hawk/hot mom? I'm hoping some of that will rub off on me. Got the dress here! So get excited.

I'm not going to lie. It is hot. Like sweat-is-leaking-from-every-gland-on-my-body-hot. Summer started early May and it feels like the peak of Hawaii heat already... and that means wedding season! It's funny how women pick the hottest months of the year to wear the most amount of fabric they'll ever wear in their life. I guess you can't have paradise without some sacrifices. Wore this particular outfit to a wedding recently. The sheerness of it is a little deceiving since I managed to still sweat a ton but it's so pretty (my lame justification)! I also like the fact that something so grandma-looking (yay for grandma clothes!) can come from such a large brand name store.

On another note, I missed being in the blogosphere, so I just wanted to reacquaint myself with all of you again. Thanks for visiting and I apologize for having the see the same update every time. So here's to a fresh start! I'm baaaaaaack!

Just got my first gilt groupe purchase! A super cute pair of Boutique9 oxfords. I love them!!! Oxfords are officially my crazy new obsession. I'm into that Lauren Hutton, Diane Keaton, Katherine Hepburn, bitch-i-can-do-anything look. But more importantly, they can pull off literally any type of men-inspired piece with a feminine attitude. That's my girl.

Trying to nab these Marais oxfords next. I actually love all their shoes, but their oxfords are by far their most classic pieces. Their whole concept really just speaks to my American pride (*Parisians are snickering right now*). I'm sure my closet can use a little patriotism, haha. Check out their shoes and site out here.

A couple things: I got a kickass new phone (nexus one) and I LOVE it. I've always been stuck with prehistoric phones my whole life and I now realize the power of unlimited texting and web-browsing. It's dangerous.

And this is sort of my first street style post. Some girls and I went out to First Fridays in downtown Honolulu, which is when they open up all the art galleries at night and all of main downtown turns into a zoo of artsy farts (like me) and club-goers.

I got to meet this girl in a great pair of harem pants which looked amazing with all that hair, those sandals, and killer accent. Made some new friends, Kela and Sean, who by the way was wearing a kick ass shiny blazer with puff sleeves (yay for puff sleeves)! I wore my favorite altered-vintage dress with my vintage snake belt and my peruvian gold cuff. In the end, it's all about the shoulders, baby.

I came across CALLA digging through Alexander Wang's background (because I HAVE to know all about my favorites, of course). Apparently the designer, Calla Haynes, collaborated on designs for prints with big-name-designers such as Alexander Wang and Erin Fetherston. She worked under Olivier Theyskens at Rochas and Nina Ricci for almost five years which clearly shows through in her work. I love how I can see her style of prints within her own work mimicked throughout Alexander Wang's seasons where he included tweed and marble prints. For more information go here! I have to admit, I'm a leggings type of girl (for good reason though!). God just decided one day to say "Hey, let's make this Chinese girl abnormally tall for her ethnicity, and while we're at it, slap some large thighs on her for good times' sake." The problem becomes this neverending search for the holy grail of all jeans. I'll know when we meet because it will be a heavenly union of butt, thighs, hips, and denim and all the angels will be singing "Hallelujah!"

Anyway, I love the look of paneled leggings lately especially these because the cut on them can just totally redefine your legs! Definitely something I need. They're also totally the way to dress for the future, you know? Don't get me wrong, I love retro throwbacks and vintage notions but we're also in 2010 now and we can't forget to look forward! Refinery29 revealed the super cool site where I could rent designer dresses for a tiny portion of the price. Since I'm a student, I can only dream of monthly black-tie events where a $600-$2000 dress would be consistently useful. Unfortunately, my resources go only so far and renttherunway is my way to somewhat fulfill that satisfaction. I have a big event I'm attending on Saturday and a rental would be perfect! So I rented this Robert Rodriguez dress with cap sleeves and a swirl print. It's conservative enough for the affair with black tights and cute shoes. Can't wait for it to come in the mail (AND I get an extra size, just in case, free of charge with a complimentary garment bag and fit kit)! Cool right? It'll be like Christmas all over again... hehe.

During this winterbreak I had the opportunity to collaborate with a good friend and style another photoshoot! It was amazing! I was inspired by an editorial that photographer David Bellemere had shot and wanted to put together a concept that really exploited Hawaii's beauty as well as the local fashion we had to offer. The end result was... well you can see for yourself. I'm super happy and super proud of the team we put together. Thanks Justine(model), Toni Farley(make-up and hair), Shannon (photog assistant), bambooksky ( providing wardrobe), and shirakiphoto(photog) for the best experience ever. I can't wait to work on my next projects! HAPPY 2010 EVERYONE!

I'm such a sucker for the classic fashion houses that have dressed and transformed women over the years long before I existed. Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent have always been my favorites. Ok, ummmm all i can say is I'M SO SORRY, PLEASE FORGIVE ME! Laziness, fashion month (which I hope you all followed on Style.com), thanksgiving eateries, halloween craziness and work have kept me in a state of frenzy. Yes, laziness drives me into a crazy state. But fear not, I have continued to keep up with my share of daily blog reading list, magazines, etc... and I have a whole bunch of inspiration and creativity to share with you.

All my latest obsessions are scattered below in no particular order because I absolutely love it all. Hopefully I can make up my absence with an uber long post. Besides work, I've been giving a shot at some styling working with a photographer friend who is beginning to introduce himself to the fashion photography world. Who better than to help him out than someone obsessed with clothes? ME :D... ok, annoying, moving on... it's only the beginning so try not to be too harsh (I'm openly sensitive about what I'm doing yet I'm curious to see the response. hehe). Woah, sorry! My blog has been hiding in the dark for sometime due to the extreme sushine that's been calling me from the ending of the summer. I hate going back into routine and seeing the hustle and bustle of morning traffic madness. It's Hawaii, we're supposed to be sipping on pina coladas under swaying palm trees (did I tell you i just turned 21 last week? no more virgin things. ha). Thank goodness this upcoming labor-day weekend will ease everyone back into their fall schedules.

Speaking of fall... that means fashion! Besides the amazing movies which will FINALLY be premiering this month, I'm tired of all these sneak peak editorials and I WANT to TOUCH the real deal. Something about glossy magazines just makes all those must-die-for clothes so much more alluring. All those september issues will be AH-MAZING!

Anyway, about those LA clothes I bought, I will definitely post those soon... I've just been... occupied (in other words: crazy lazy) Here's some sunday shopping that I did. I've been looking for the perfect bandaged skirt and I found it at the butik (one of my fave boutiques in HI). It's structured similarly to an A.Wang skirt from Resort 2009. Now i'm just waiting for these Circa Joan & David oxfords from camille at childhood flames here...ah! I'm so excited!

sorry i've been absent for awhile. took a flight to LA for the weekend (which turned into a week due to standby problems) to take care of some school stuff. but don't worry, i did not come back empty-handed! new outfit posts will come out soon with all my spankin-awesome purchases.

Miu Miu's Fall 2009 campaign is genius! Mert & Marcus' bare-naked colors and the minimalist

effect perfectly showcase miuccia's must-have fall/winter clothes and accessories.

Here's my extremely rough interpretation.

vintage crop top, a. mcqueen for target skirt, vintage clutch, jessica simpson wedges (found them for $1!!!)

I can be quite the ratpacker. I can't seem to throw away the too-small t-shirts with autographs of all my sixth grade classmates or random hello kitty items I made my mom buy every time we passed the Sanrio store at the mall. All those sentimental feelings are tucked away some place somewhere in my house. They're waiting to be thoughtfully placed in some awesome future apartment I'll have, which will be decorated in that "beautiful mess" type of style. I love organized clutter. It's like the happy compromise between the neat freak in me and the actual chaos of life. Here are some inspirations for my future apartment.... uhhh... .. I mean mansion/penthouse.

my magazine collection WILL look like hers.

I want my closet to be as big as Lisa Mayock's of Vena Cava.

I want my belts and jewelery to be organized in a nook just like hers except around an antique birdcage instead.

And I want my shelves color coded. I want I want I want.

her ad campaigns are so over-the-edge and so fun at the same time.

just came back from the motherland (china) with an assortment of good shopping and a little extra weight from all the good food. still thinking of all the sweet buns and the savory street food. i've always thought the best way to travel is to do it on your own. no tour guides, no docents, just some good googling will get you where you need to go.

So...this is my very new and very own blog!
